This year, for the first time in history the people at Pantone have given the title of Colour of the Year to two colours. A pastel palate of soft pink and tranquil blue, but more beautifully named Rose Quartz and Serenity and I think they are just gorgeous, particularly as a pair.
I also love the reasoning behind the industry leader's decision to chose two colours, and specifically these two as society moves toward gender and sexual equality and fashion allows for a freedom for expression and a blurring of what were considered gender norms.
Pantone Colour of the Year: Rose Quartz & Serenity
According to Pantone, these calming shades of soft pink and blue also bring a soothing sense of reassurance and security as consumers seek mindfulness and escapism from their busy and stressful lives. A snapshot back to our innocent childhood when life was much simpler perhaps?
I have to admit, I am pretty fond a pastel shade or two but when I see how beautiful these two colours work together in nature or in a beautiful sunrise I cant help but get a fuzzy feeling of love inside my tummy.
Holiday snapshot I took of Bora Bora Beach sunrise in Ibiza
I'm lovin the sunrise and beautiful sky on Bora Bora beach!
I really enjoyed the process of pulling together images of these two shades working together for an inspiration board. So much so, I created two! The thrill of finding so many gorgeous images of the two at play in nature, fashion and interiors gave me that buzzy, fuzzy feeling again I thought it would be a shame not to share them with you too...

I've also picked out some items below that are currently available on the high street should you wish to bring some serenity into your life, and rose quartz of course!!
You could go all out with paint or add some subtle touches to your space or wardrobe this summer mixed with neutral shades of white and grey and accents of copper or bronze. Its not for everyone of course and I couldn't imagine decking my whole house in it, but perhaps a little update in your bedroom or living space could have you feeling tickled pink you took the risk.

What do you think of this colour palate?
Pretty as can be or not for me?
